Parent-Teacher Fellowship (PTF) Formed
Barb Whitehead to Head Official Parent Group
One of the major goals established by the Board of Directors and the Superintendent in the 2008 Strategic Plan was to create an official parent-teacher organization at SCA. That goal has now been realized in the form of our new Parent-Teacher Fellowship.
The PTF was established in early October and now operates according to written bylaws and a very clear mission statement. The bylaws are posted for your review on the SCA website (see “PTF Bylaws”). The Mission Statement, a somewhat general statement of purpose, is as follows:
The SCA Parent-Teacher Fellowship (PTF) exists to keep open the lines of communication between parents and the school administration, to provide opportunities for the positive and supportive involvement of parents, to facilitate the creation of a school community characterized by Christian fellowship, trust, and mutual respect, to assist in efforts to develop/improve programs and provide needed facilities, and to promote the philosophy, policies, and procedures of SCA.
SCA’s Superintendent, Tim Hillen, announced at the organizational meeting of the PTF that he had named former Board member, Barb Whitehead, to be the PTF’s first President. According to Hillen, “Barb was the obvious, easy choice to fill this important position. She is one of the most talented, spiritual, involved, and people-friendly school parents I have ever known. She will be a great parent leader for our school.”
Barb has selected her officer team, and the other members of the Executive Board of the PTF have been appointed. For informational purposes, the total PTF leadership team is included to the right.
